From The Campaign Trail
I am running for City Council because I believe in our City and care greatly about this valley. It is where I grew up and have lived my entire life. Santa Clarita is a wonderful place to live because of its quality of life, its great schools and people. I want to ensure that Santa Clarita continues to be the most desirable place to live, work and raise our families.
I have been honored to serve our community not only as a publicly elected school board member, but I have also been privileged to serve on a number of non-profit boards and organizations. Service to community has been an integral part of our family. My husband Bruce serves on the Board of Trustees of College of the Canyons.
As a member of the Wm. S. Hart High School District Governing Board for the past fourteen years, I am proud to have been part of the governing leadership that has built and sustained quality educational programs for our youth and future workforce. The Hart District is ranked among the top 10% of the best academically performing high school districts in the state. As the largest full time employer in the Santa Clarita Valley, the Hart District remains fiscally sound even in these difficult economic times. I am also a proud alumnus of Hart District schools
I believe that great communities have great schools as their foundation. We have great schools in Santa Clarita that provide safe learning environments. It’s why people move here, buy homes and raise their families. I will fight for our children’s future. As a member of the City Council I want to build stronger partnerships with local school districts, the Sheriff’s Department, businesses, and other key agencies to support programs and services that deter youth from taking the wrong paths in life, therefore, helping to reduce the potential risks to public safety and quality of life.
I have a strong commitment to public safety and insuring that we provide a high level of service to protect our neighborhoods, homes, places of business and our schools. Working in partnership with the Sheriff’s Department I will fight to reduce crime and keep Santa Clarita one of the safest cities in which to live.
I believe continued investment in economic development should be a top priority for the city council. It is vital to our tax base and to our identity to provide a fertile environment for attracting, retaining and expanding business and industry that create high paying jobs and help develop a strong local economy.
I believe that I bring the right kind of experienced leadership that engages the community, fosters relationships and works collaboratively to bring about positive change and decision-making that is responsive and represents the needs of our residents.
I hope you will join me in supporting my candidacy for City Council. Together we can build a better Santa Clarita!
